Krylon Fusion

I just want to be sure of this before I use it. I've read in a few places that you can use the Krylon Fusion paint - for instance on the shroud portion of the DIY mod for the MJs.

Once it's dry, it can be submerged in the tank and it'll be fine? It won't leach anything harmful into the tank?

I'm still looking for sch-80, but it's a little harder to find. Don't have a nearby Lowes. Just HD.

Anyway, is it okay to use?

Thanks!

Debbie

No one will guarantee it, of course, but quite a few of us have been using it for a while with no problems. I don't think there's anything in it that's any worse than, say, PVC cement.

Won't it peel over time?

Their Fusion line is formulated to stick to plastic unlike most other paints.

I tested out some on a few valves and pipes on the external plumbing and even when it cures (2 1/2 weeks), it still scratches of pretty easily - so I decided better safe than sorry . . .

Instead you could just use black PVC pipe and black fittings from:
www.savko.com
It's all really cheap, less than a dollar each, and you won't have to worry about anything.

check out bulldog plastic adhesion promoter. This stuff is bastically thinned out weldon, if you use it and fusion (or any plastic specific paint) you'll need to gouge into the plastic to get it off. I know its used in automotive restoration, I don't think you'll find it at any walmart type store. I would put pvc/acrylic painted with it in my tank.

Thanks! I'm still trying to find sc-80, but I'll try that if I decide to paint it. Everything in my tank gets covered really fast in a coat of pink, so I probably don't need it.
