Lettuce isn't a good choice for a food source. It is very poor in nutrients and if not washed properly before adding to your tank, it can introduce pesticides. Nori is by far a better choice. Nori is dried seaweed often used to roll sushi. If you would like to treat your herbivores, you can used blanched or steamed broccoli and/or spinach leaves and/or collard greens. Just make sure they get washed.

I found 2 kind of seaweed at the store. One is black, thick with little smell and one is roasted (green, thin and smell good). Which one should I use?

You can buy Nori at any asian supermarkets. They are fairly cheap and tangs love them, i bought mine for about 2 dollars.

another option is Ocean Nutritions Seaweed Selects. most LFS have it. i get it from Petsmart for about $5 for 20 sheets. it also comes with a new clip to use in the tank.
