Rock Boring Urchins = Reef Safe?

The other day, my son discovered 2 tiny urchins on the rock. Comparing pictures, my best guess is that its a common rock boring urchin.

My question, are they reef safe?

Any idea how fast they grow? Right now, they're pretty small...maybe 1/3 inch diameter. I'm sure at some point, they should come out due to knocking things around, was just wondering how long til I need to worry about em.

Search feature is down or I'd look there...one of these days I need to get off my rear and sign up for RC =)

If you are a rock, your not safe. Otherwise, should be fine IMO.

Rock Boring Urchins will be happy to work on a small peice of Macro like Graciliaria. They dont move around much.
