Question starfish question?

I placed a serpent star in my tank about a month ago and has seem to be doing fine. However I noticed about two days ago one limb was way short. No big deal figured a rock got it or something. Tonight when I checked on him, all 5 limbs are very short. Why would this be happening?

Might it be getting caught in your powerheads at night?

I have foam around the intake of my powerhead, does the calcium level or anything like that have to be high? for one to survive?

A crab could be going after it.

The starfish could also just be slowly declining due to lack of food or improper care during transport, although it's possible the hermit crabs were hungry.

i have a searpant star also and every once in awhile one leg will be shorter but it grows back in a couple of weeks i have just assumed that a hermit or my niger trigger get extra hungry at night i wouldn't worry to much
