ASM/ER Skimmer help
Hello, I was just looking at the mega-skimmers in the photo forum and they all seem to have such nice thick bubbles / foam inside the body. I have a ER CS 5-2 on my 75 gal, and an ASM G-2 on my 65. They do not have any modifications. How can I make them better? Where do you set the riser on your ASM's ? My ER's tube is totally extended...but the ASM has a longer one I could adjust. I can't put any more heat into my tanks, so an added pump is not an option.

you could always do the gate valve mod.they sell all of the parts to do it at marine depot.I once read a thread here about placeing your skimmer in a bucket and having all of your tank water drain into the bucket and then overflowing into your sump. This method feeds more concentrated/skimmed water from your main aquarium to your skimmer.I do this but took it one step further.I built a clear acrylic box that was just large enough to house my skimmer pump.I built it to a height just above my sump water level.I drilled a hole near the bottom to plumb the pump to the skimmer.I did this right when i was setting up my aquarium so i dont really know if this is working better than the plug 'n play method.give it a shot.good luck
