How often do you replace RO unit?
After 2,5 years I am having more and more troubles with cyanos. I am asking all old reefers, how often do you replace RO unit? Did you notice any changes after RO unit replacement?
Regards. |

Why would you want to replace the whole unit? Why not replace the Individual filters? You should get a TDS meter and see whats wrong before you replace the whole unit.

Do you maybe know normal or average level for a new RO or RO/DI unit?

New should be zero.
replace RO when they start to go up. Mine is almost 2 years old and it has a TDS of 6ppm. when it hits 10, bye bye RO. Get a TDS meter; cost is about $25. My DI is keeping TDS at zero.

Here are a couple of links to get you started. They also sell the TDS meters to help you check your water and see if your membrane needs replacing. The kH test is not going to give you the results you are looking for.

Prefilters should be replaced every 6 months regardless of use. The membrane or DI should be replaced when your TDS meter tells you they are not efficiently working anymore.

It also helps if you get DI resins that change colors as they are used up. When you have something to eyeball, it can make a huge difference.

Thank you. I must ask them, if they deliver to Europe. We ususally use only RO units.
