Eheim Pump

I am going to use a Eheim 1260 as a closed loop pump, does it have to be upright to function properly?
Or can I mount it in a different orientation?

I've seen them turned all sorts of ways.
Just make sure you have it oriented where the input will be flooded whenever its started.
Highly suggest you install union's with ballvalves between the pump and the tank input and output, they way you can take off for maintenance without having the tank empty to the level of the holes. WELCOME to the addiction!!!
