Simple Questions on Building Fuge

I bought some 1/4 acrylic to build a fuge. Do I pull the cover paper off before cutting? The man at home depot told me to use a box cutter to set the cut line and a straight edge to break it. I am afraid this will not work. How do you cut 1/4 acrylic for a smooth edge?

Use a table saw.

Leave the blue on as long as possible, that way it wont get scratched.
