Dosing vodka/sugar and dendronepthya?

If I am not mistaken the reason why people dose vodka or sugar is to speed up bacteria growth which removes more nitrates. Recently I have been adding a teaspoon of sugar to my top off water and there has been a noticable increase in bacteria. Every morning there is a transparent film of bacteria on the glass. The skimmer has been going crazy, I get almost a full cup of nasty skimate every day (this is from a remora on my 29 gallon).

I was wondering if maybe this may be a new technique for keeping dendronepthya. If a skimmer was not in use I would imagine that my water would be an almost milky color from the bacteria. Not only would this provided a large amount of bacteria-based food for corals it would help keep the water quality up. Any thoughts? Obviously other supplemental foods would need to be added in order to create a more divers diet.
