setting up a Quarantine/hospital tank???

I have been reading lots of threads/ articles re: ich.
I have come to the conclusion that i have to setup a quarantine/hospital tank for my fish that are infected with ich.
Using either hyposalinity or copper meds solutions.
I have 12 fish in my 135g (hippo,yellow,anthias,clown etc..)
fun part is going to be getting them out, especially my lil mandarin goby.

Questions are:

How big of a Q-Tank do i need?
How do i establish the biological filteration? Can I use my filter socks to seed the new sponge filter i plan on using?
Can I add a few pcs of LR to seed the new filter?
Then take them out when it is estabished on the new filter.

Thanks in advance

I just set up my qt tank for my 150. It's a 55 has a skimmer, huge uv sterilizer, bio ball trickle filter, and a magnum 350 canister as the return pump from the 25g sump.

Use PVC for hiding places. Bare bottom for easy cleaning.

I did a massive water change on my main tank and used the water i drained to fill the 55, used fresh mixed to fill the last 25g.

You can also put your new filtration in your display sump to help start it, but im pretty sure the 55 gallons you use to start the qt is plenty of a boost.

Have fun getting them out. I still have a firefish and 3 stripe to get out of my display.

Then 8 weeks without fish in the display to rid the ich.

I'm also going to install a small uv sterilizer to my display. I don't want to go overkill like i did on the QT tank, but think it might help keep a healthy tank.
