10K lighting... what are your thoughts?

Does anybody run 10k metal halides without any actinics? What are your thoughts? I don't remember ever seeing any tanks that only run 10k bulbs, so if someone has any pictures I would love to see them.

Thanks!

I have seen one spectacular tank that runs only 10K, it was like a 220 and ran 3 on lumanarks if I recall. Accually I have a friend who runns only 10K and no supplemtation too.

I run XM 10K and since my atinic bulbs need to be replaced soon I think I will remove them insted or replacing them. This will also alow me to drop my hilides lower like I want to for better light, and part of the hilide won't be shadowed by the atinic bulb.

I personally like the color of 10K's, but that is all preferance.

I wish I could find that picture, but I can't seem to right now,
Sorry,
Whiskey

What kind of color would SPS get under 10k bulbs only as compared to something like a 14k or 20k?

I have 3 EVC 250 10k's, just on regular crappy spider reflectors.
I looked at them the other day without the actinics and liked the way they looked.
I was thinking of leaving the actinics off for a while to see how I liked it, and the coral.
It would also save 280 watts

I use a 10K Aqualine Buschke 250W DE alone. I don't need the pretty blue light. If you have ever been diving in the shallow waters that our pets live in, that is how it looks. Everybody feels right at home. I don't have a digi right now sorry.

A lot of people feel you get better color with more blue light. Check this out: http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog...ee_060202.html
