Sulphuric Acid question??
Randy,
I have a quick question regarding my Milwaukee ORP probe. I purchased, Redox Electrode Test Solution by Red Sea... It says to dip the electrode in this solution for 5 minutes... If I get a reading from 430-475 MV my electrode and meter are okay. If it's 400-430 or 475-500 than clean and retest. If it's lower than 400 or higher than 500 replace electrode. The solution in the bottle says contains Sulphuric Acid, is this stuff safe for my ORP meter? I have the milwaukee and it's platinum but the bottle says this stuff is suitable for the Reagecon type PCPtFCII. Platinum combination electrode with reference cell: AglAgCl (3m kcc saturated with AgCl.) This is all foreign to me, can you make it out? I pulled the instructions off the web for Red Sea ozone units the Aquazone deluxe and it says this bottle is for checking up on the probe once a week. Would my milwaukee probe basically be the same type as the RedSea aquazone units? Thanks, Mike Guerrero |

Yes, sulfuric acid, especially diluted as it likely is in that standard, is safe for an ORP probe.
