Quarantine - How Long?
Hello,
I have a Powder Brown Tang in a 45 gal tank. This is my current quarantine tank. I will be moving him to my 90 gal. How long do I need to keep him in the quarantine? Also should I be treating the tank (i.e. copper, etc). The tang does not show any signs and is eating well. Fish1219 |

This is a VERY GOOD advice on how to do a QT process:
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-1...ture/index.htm The only change on the above advice is the question you've asked. I always go 6 weeks in quarantine. I'm glad your fish is eating well. They are not the easiest of tangs to keep. Your water quality must be top notch and your tank needs to be well aged and mature. I always treat my tangs with copper because they are so prone to have either Marine Ich or Marine Velvet (or both) and copper it the common cure for both. But if you've had it in quarantine for more than 10 days, I wouldn't treat it, just keep watching it closely -- for no less than 6 weeks. |
