Sometimes they never will be the same, I have two 150 watt 14ks, and sometimes one will turn a pinkish white color while the other is a blue/white.

It is a hit or miss with my bulbs and most of the time they are the same or barely off and that does not bother me, but there are days that I get really ticked off about it. I have tried other bulbs but it is hard to get an exact match with mine.

Are they brand new bulbs? It takes about 100 hours for MH bulbs to stabalize.

I had this problem with my XM 10ks. Look INSIDE the bulb and you'll see another glass bulb with a nub on it. That nub MUST be pointing in the same direction on both bulbs. Remember, if your sockets are oriented differently...say one going <--- and the other going ---> that the numbs need to be 180 deg from eachother if not pointing directly up or down.

The "nub" or "nipple" ideally should be pointing up on all MH bulbs unless they are mounted vertically.

It has something to do with the pooling of gasses around the nipple area.

Here you can see what happens when one bulb has nipple up, and one down.

Yes. The nipple should be pointing up. Some bulbs are more sensitive to this than others.

Also, if you have been running them for a while with the nipple down, then it may take several days for the gasses to adjust... so be patient.

What brand of bulb are you using?
