Question about outflow siphon break holes
I have a 20L that I am going to start up this weekend. Main tank is a 20L with a 10G sump/fuge. Using a CPR CS90 overflow and a Mag5 pump for water return. I have had everything running in the garage with hose water and the flow is really nice and everything is functioning well.
One question tho- I am using 1/2 PVC that T's into 2 outflows for the return from the sump/fuge. I need to drill siphon break holes in each one, but do not know how big they should be? Is 1/8 too big? Any advice is appreciated. |

1/8" is a good place to start out, then test and make sure it functions correctly. Make sure and clear the hole of any residual burrs that are left over from drilling. If you're worried about 1/8" being too big, then just start a size or two smaller and work from there.

Ive got pretty much the same setup but with 3/4" pvc. I did them right at the water level and they are maybe 1/16". Maybe you can start with that and increase the size if it doesnt stop the siphon fast enough. Mine 'chug' a few times as it starts but works fine.
