Question my fisrt hitchhiker, good right?

so I just setup my 75 gallon a little over a week ago, and was cycling my tank with my 92 lbs of LR. And i decided that I needed to spend more money on this thing...(actually was out of the area, and drove by a fish store in San Jose, and was like... meh why not take a look...well soon after looking i saw there live rock and was like, wow this has some serious color, so i got another 16lbs, beautiful shapes and purples, reds and greens. Well after i am sitting back admiring my reaquascape... this guy pops out....

(check gallery, couldnt get link to work this morning)

i am pretty sure he is a feather duster, which is good right? And if he is out 90% of the time that means that my tank is doing pretty well then too right?

Anyways, i will get some pics of my whole tank up soon if anyone is interested.

haiwian feather duster. ive got 2 of them. they like light and med. to low flow. yes, it means tank is doing good. ive seen some about 6" dia. nice looking rock! i have some green ones in some Fiji i got in Dec. they grew about 1/8" dia. so far. the ones in two display tanks are about 3"" and 5" theyre filter feeders so nutrients are absorbed through the fans. watch what food you choose if any, some are baaad for the reef tank! good luck and REEF-ON!!!

Congrats on your first critter! As stated above, "free" feather dusters are almost always plain white ones. You lucked out.
If you're wondering what to feed it, don't. It will catch tiny particles from the water column.

Nice freebie on the rock. My feather dusters don't have that much color. Guess you lucked out. Sit back and enjoy. By the way, he's a filter feeder so don't worry about the food. He will catch what he needs when you feed your fish. Good luckwith him.

Be happy!

Can I add a question?

How often do these things usually have a movement? You know, go potty?

I was just looking at my tank two days ago when my feather duster started this incredibly long business in a brownish color. Then, the next night he did it again, only it was black that time. Is this normal?

Thanks for letting me interject.

I cant say i really pay that much attention to my dusters pooping habits.
But id say It's all relative to how much they are eating.
