Lifegard Fluidized Bed Bio Filter-Anyone try one of these ??
Hello all,
first time poster here. Honestly I am not setting up a reef system. I am trying to take advantage of the advanced concepts you reef folks are using. Filteration, lighting etc. for my Rift lake chiclids and discus tanks. Tank one is a 125 gallon Rift Lake tank. Wet dry filtering supplemented with an Ocean Pro cannister and UGJ`s Tank two is a 180 planted discus tank. LifeReef LF300 wet dry and also a cartridge system. I have both tanks and am in process of setting them up. Kind of a learn as I go mode. Carefully picking and choosing equipment. Been seeing ad`s for the Lifegard Fluidized Bed Bio Filter. Sounds like a good product. Anyone use it and would you be kind enough to share any comments as it would apply to a FW system ? What did you use for a pump ?? Thanks in advance !! |

Advanced concepts can be applied to any tank. If fact, this kind of stuff is used more in FW, than in a reef tank because of the high nitrates(removed by water changes) they produce.
Fluidized Bed Filters are awseome at bio filtration with one big drawback. When the power goes out, the sand compacts and becomes anaerobic, depriving the bacteria of oxygen, and killing it. Not the case with wet/drys.
