some wierd life in my tank
sorry but i don't have a good enough camera to take pics of this stuff so i'll try to describe them the best i can.
the first thing i noticed were these clear long worms... they seem to have some sort of stickyness to them. they reach out accross the rocks, things seem to stick to it, as it pulls itself back into the hole it's in, the stuff stuck to it gets left on the outside of the hole. as the stuff it drags back, the holes seems to be getting longer and longer as the stuff makes like a tube. next thing i noticed is this wierd worm/slug thing that as it reaches out, it seems to turn itself inside-out. it looks to have some sort of mouth thing that looks like it's eating from the rock. it's kinda dark, maybe black, with a few white spots on the side. it actually pulls itself all the way back into the rock. next thing i noticed are these 1/4-5/8" red vein looking things that seem to be attached to the glass. when i look at it in a magnifying glass, it looks like it's reaching out or growing from a few areas. last thing i can think of is this wierd looking bubble thing. right now it's only like 1/2-5/8". it kinda looks like anemone as it has a tentacle that reaches out from the center of each bubble. color seems to be close to that of a kenya tree. |

Your clear long worms are a common one...spionid comes to mind, but I'm not sure that's the right name. Saltcorner.com has pictures in its inverts section, lots of id's. I agree with the other ids, except the last, which doesn't ring a bell.

I discovered I have almost an entirely different tank at night when I use a flashlight to highlight areas before creatures start to scramble away. Love this part of the hobby. My first year of owning the tank (bought it already stocked) it seemed like I saw something new almost every month if not week!!! Enjoy your discoveries.

i removed a bunch of hair algae from a rock and found a small colony of worms i think... they were red, thin and about 1-1.5" long. they were all kinda twisted together and kinda worked together as they stretched accross the rock to probably find a new home. are these the spaghetti worms? couldn't find it on Melev's Reef.

did they have little bristles running down their sides. They sound more like bristle worms.

finally able to get a pic of the bubbly thing i mentioned. what is this thing.
http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showp...p?photo=170218 anyone know what this is? it's growing on the end of what i think is a dead piece of coral. but someone was telling me that because it's purple toward the end of the coral, it still could be alive. |

It does look like a severly bleached single head of blasto merletti. If you feed it small pieces of meaty foods, it should make a good comeback and grow for you.

so how do i feed it? it's pretty small... and how do i get it to grow? it seems like it's reached the max because of what it's growing on... will it move off of the branch of dead coral?

oh! really! so how should i have it mounted... right now i just had it laying on top of a rock thinking i could get to move away from it or spread onto the rock. what is the ideal positioning of this. should i stick the skeleton into the sand? when i first noticed it, it was a little darker pinkish in color and was in the sand... also looked a little larger...
