refugium in skimmer

I have a chamber on the front of my remora skimmer that elimiates micro bubles from the waterfall. I wanted to know if that can be used as a refugium of some sort since water is flowing through there all the time

Way to small to be of any benefit. Keep it for what it's intended to do, eliminate micro bubbles.
