sea hare vs. powerhead
My first sea hare get wacked by a powerhead that wasn't covered, so i but the cover on it and a couple weeks later decided that I would give another on a try. So yesterday new one goes in the tank and everything is good and then today check on it when I get home and this one got sucked in through the screen and was dead. How can I prevent this from happening.

You can probably find a sponge to cover the intake with at your LFS. Make sure you keep the sponge clean,though, so that it doesn't turn into a source of nitrates.

Make sure your entire screen is clean. I am willing to bet you had algae on 90% of the PH screen and the sea hare found the bare 10% spot and got stuck to it. Is there something you're not telling us?

Freed hit it right on the head. It wasn't the cleanest thing in the world but i figured with the clogged screen it still wouldn't have enough suction but I guess I was wrong.

I lost one that way. You have to make sure the screen is at least 50%-75% clean ALL THE TIME so that if the sea hare does go a crawling on it there will be plenty of surface area for the water to be sucked in and not the sea hare. Once the sea hare gets sucked in there is absolutely no way he can pull himself out without human intervention.

This includes any overflows you may have. Put a screen over them so the sea hare doesn't get sucked down or crawl down the hose or plumbing and get stuck INSIDE the plumbing.
This happened to me once.
