lighting

How long should lights be on for a day? Our sebae crispa anenome seems to be happier with more light rather than less. Can you have the lights on for too long?
We are using fluros at the moment and looking at upgrading to a metal halide when we can afford it!!!!!
Thanks
Jo

first, your current tanks: list still cycling? your anemone is not gonna survive if your cycling in the same tank. you need a well est. tank of at least 6 mo. or longer. they do love light and current and they will move to where ever they feel to be at that particular moment. overflows, powerheads, your favorite coral. just where ever. as far as light, i recommend the daylight hours where you live. not dawn till dusk but the full day hours. appx. 10, any more is your call. some go as much as 14, IMO thats to much. good luck & REEF-ON!!!

Current Tank Info: SPS dominated barebottom display with BB sump since 2005, most consistant parameters in 19+ years of reefkeeping.

i run my tank 12 hours daylight for 10 and dusk dawn 1 hour before and 1 hour after the day bulbs go off but for the 10 hours all my bulbs are running. how many watts of light do you have the anemone under. if they are only under standard flo. tank lights the anemone will not live. also if your tank is still cycling it will not live. the anemone you have is one of the harder to keep anemones also.
