looking for a good hob skimmer
I have been using a sea clone skimmer and was getting pretty good results from it but now I can't seem to keep it in adjustment. It looks like it is bubbling good but they are not making it high enough to get into the collection cup. Are there any good hob skimmers? If so could some of you guys/gals recommend them. It is goinf on a 75 gal. and I do not have a sump/refugium so it has to be hob. I would like to keep the price under $225 if possible.
Are there any good mods that can be done to my sea clown I mean sea clone skimmer?? Thanks from a discouraged newbie

I like my Aqua C Remora.
Relatively quiet, looks good , no fiddling around with it, easy to clean Others of course will have different views.

Bump for the Remora, or even better the Remora Pro with Mag 3. This is really the only HOB skimmer I recommend to my clients. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for in this case

Remora worked very well for me when I had a smaller tank.
Is your profile correct... you have a 75 gallon? If so, I would save a little longer for a Remora Pro or something bigger. My Remora was a little under powered for my 72g with a moderate bioload.

Skip the Remora. I have had a Remora, CPR Bakpak, Prizm and now have a Coralife Superskimmer. The Prizm was a much better skimmer than the Remora. I highly recommend the Coralife SS. You could probably get the largest model for what you are looking to spend.

Yes my profile is correct, I am looking for a skimmer for my 75. The remora pro w/ mag pump sounds pretty good. At least it sounds like you don't have to mess with it. That's the only draw back to the coralife super skimmer that I have been reading about. From what I have been reading you have to adjust the bubble box a lot or it overflows. I have also heard if the water level in the tank fluctuates it will overflow. Has anyone using this skimmer had any of these problems?? I just don't want to spend $200 and be unhappy.
Thanks for the input/advise

I would recommed the remora pro w/ mag 3. I used a remora for over a year on my 58 gallon and it worked great then I got a good deal on a remora pro and it blew the regular remora away. I feel the regular remora was undersized for my bioload. I have been very happy with the remora pro. I now have the remora pro on my 40 gallon. I added a sump to my 58 gallon so I got a used deltec MC500 from a board member and that thing way out performs the remora pro but it was also more expensive. the remora is one of the easiest skimmers to use. You don't have to constantly adjust it.

Another vote for the Aqua C Remora. Though do not get the bubble box. Mine was $24 extra and is now holding a couple cleaning brushes under the tank.

I forgot a good mod for your seaclone. Take it for a ride and throw it out and hit a sign with it, this same mod works well for the prizm skimmers also.

I like and use the S.C. Once and awhile , take parts off and blast it with a water hose and make it work a little better. JD
