Algae Growth
Need some advise please. I have put together a 30g tank, with about 25lbs Live rock, skimmer, and a canister filter, PC light. The tank has been up for about 4 weeks. The rock is now growing with some sort of red, brown and black algae (I think). Could some one please advise of what this may be, good or bad info will help. Thanks

Do nothing except regurlar tank maintanace (water changes and such). For new tanks it is a phase (algae phase that is). It'll pass. If nitrites and ammonia are zeroes then you can add a clean up crew several different snails, crabs, etc...

I agree. Your tank is cycling and this is normal. When my tank was cycling, brown algae set in for a month then went away. Just give it time and watch the parameters.

To Reef Central Pretty much the same as above, all new tanks go through an algae stage that will start to decrease over time. |
