Refugium: Sand vs Mud vs Other?

In the past I used Ecosystem mud...but at nearly $80 for 10lb I am looking for something else.

Anyone have something they use with great success?

Ive never used anything except the Eco.

I use sand, I havent had any problems with it. I havenever used the mud, so I cant comment on that.
