how long can saltwater sit waiting for a water change?

i mixed up 4 gallons of saltwater last wednesday for a partial water change/coral acclimation and never used it. i turned the pump and heater off over the weekend, but turned them back on yesterday. now that the water has been sitting for 5 days, can i still use it for a waterchange or should i mix up a new batch?

thanks,
Dan

Yep I usually let mine sit for 4-5 days
If it was not covered though make sure SG is correct and that not too much water has evaped before using..

Once it is mixed well you can cover the container and turn off all powerheads, air etc. It will last a long time. I mix mine up 44 gallons at a time and then use it over the course of a month. I airate it and turn the powerhead on a couple of hours before I use it.

As long as you have no organics in it you will be just fine.

Regards,

Pat
