wavemaker opinion
I would like an opinion on the red sea wavemaster pro here is a link to it http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...ro.asp?CartId=
Has anyone used it, could you tell me the good bad and the ugly about it and all that. I no tunze has better ones but I don't have the 10000000 dollars to get one. I plan on using it with 2 seio M820 powerheads in my 46gal bowfront. I just read that the seio powerheads are not recommended for use with a wavemaker, anyone no why? They will burn out on a wavemaker. Seio is coming out with a wavemaker/controller soon(so they say).
My next set up I will use waveseas on my returns. |

I have a wavemaster pro I used to use with Maxijet 1200s on my 75 gallon. Worked flawlessly - Maxijets are probably the best for that type of wavemaker but they top out at 300gph? for the 1200.

Anyone have any other suggestions on what powerhead to use with this wavemaker?
I'm in a rush because I all ready bought the seio but they are on backorder so I need to stop the order. |

I have the wavemaster pro and run it with maxi-jets 1200s and 900s. I love it. It has worked beautifully. No problems with the MJs either. The only modification was t the I glued the shaft of the MJs together. The shaft is disgned to have a little play in it. I glued the shaft so that it would eliminated the clicking noise when the MJ powers up. Best wavemaker solution for the price. MJs are cheap and the wavemaster pro is fairly inexpensive and reliable. Yes, you could use a SCWD, but I tried that and didn't like the hoses hangin off of the back of the tank. I really didn't have the room either. If you don't mind having power heads in view this is the way to go.

FYI, some people will say that this set-up is bad because pwer heads are not designed to turn off and onn all of the time. They will tell you to have lots of back-up propellers because they will break. I've never had an MJ go down. I've never had one stop working or had a prop break. Even if one were to go down, just toss it and buy a new one. They're only like $15 bucks.

Bluneline Tsunami at Champion lighting and supply works well. I'm running it with Maxi's.
I had the same questions as you. My research revealed that the Redsea wavemaker was giving some people issues with long term reliability (given the constant switching of mechanisms/transisters inside I can see why). Chose the Tsunami as the build quality seemed to be up to par for many many years of use. The maxi's seem to be preferred for use with constant on and off state. So far my maxi's have been running for a few weeks with no problems at all. I think I may buy a RedSea for my nano, as the Tsunami does not have all the bells and whistles, however, so far I am happy with my Tsunami with my 65 gallon. I would buy it again. The build quality is top notch. Nothing plastic. |

IMO if your going to spend some bucks on a wavemaker, just get a ReefKeeper 2 and get all the bells and whistles to go along with it.

The benefit of this controller is that you can set the on/off from 30 secs to 40 min! I used it for two years with the Seios and no issues! HTH..... Say this today, i'd snag this if you have the cash! http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=845221 RK |
