ATTN T5 Guru's! T5 or VHO as supplemental?
I'm going to be switching over to 400w 20K XM's, and will only be running my halides about 5 hours. I'd like to get something to light up the tank for 3 hours before and 3 hours after the halides. I'm battling between VHO's and T5's(normally driven).
Does anyone know if the new UV Lighting actinic T5's will give that same "pop" their VHO's give? If I go with the T5's should I go ahead and get the 48" retro's since they are only $5 more and the bulbs cost the same? This will be going over a 6' long tank btw... Edit: I was looking at the T5 Tek light retro's from DIYreef.com. If anyone else has a better suggestion, please let me know. Thanks! Last edited by BreadmanMike; 05/21/2006 at 06:11 AM. |

Do a search for uvl actinic. Icecap people say they are exactly the same as VHO.

definitely go with t5ho. less power used, less heat, more output, and longer bulb life than VHO.

I can't speak for the newest Actinic T5's, but the Actinic+ doesn't give the same "POP" as VHO actinics.
