Metal Halide problem - need help quick
When I turned my MH ( black pendant) on this morning, smoke sstarted coming from the top of the fixture, although it was still producing light.
Any ideas what it can, be how to fix it it? Argh, this sucks. |

I would look inside for any loose connections, melted insulation, or anything else out of the ordinary. Dust accumulation can cause this too. Of course do this with the fixture turned off. HTH

Any thing helps at this point, as I have absolutely no experience with these.
I will try taking them down and checking for those things. The bolts and nuts at the top all all rusted. |

I just checked and it seems the bulb is blown, or it is getting there
Could that have caused it? |

New update: checked the bulb on another MH fixture and it works ok.
Open up damaged fixture and insulation is falling apart, nuts and bolts all rusted. Can I go to Lowes and get replacement parts or are MH'parts kind of exclusive? |

as far as wire goes...you should be ok as long as you get the same size wire. You can also replace the nuts and bolts. I would go with stainless steel this time it sounds like the old stuff wasn't.
