When to start dosing KALK???
At what point will I need to start dosing kalk? Right now, I have basic corals that include various zoas, xenia, kenya tree, frogspawn, and green star polyps.
I was interested in adding a monti cap some time in the future. Will the corals I listed be ok without dosing kalk? Right now, I just do water changes and don't even measure for calcium. Everything is growing. Thx!

If you do water changes the calcium and other trace elements are replenished. I would start dosing Kalk when you Ca is 400 and your alk is a 7-12 dKH. Kalk will maintain Ca and alk and will also help precipitate phosphates.
You really do not need kalk with the current list of corals, assuming your parameters are within the acceptable ranges. But if you add a monti it will aid in it's growth. |
