Slimer
I don't know what else to call them! Can someone help me figure out what they are.
Description: Small erect tubes about 1/8" to 1/2" long with just a very tiny white tip at the end. When I clean the algae from the glass they excrete a long white strand about 3"-4" long I am assuming to feed. It looks like my tank has cobwebs. There are about 100 or so of these in the tank and I am just trying to figure out what they are. Sorry no pics my macro skills do not exist. Thanks

yes it is a worm, I have lots of them too. It makes a long slimy filiment when it wants to feed by capturing food on this filiment. I forget the exact name of them, but I know they grow a lot when there are excess nutrients for them to feed on. I try and find the base where it lives and detroy them because I consider them a nusense. They can sufficate corals by covering them with their sticky filiments.

These are in my FOWLR tank so no worries about the corals. If they are eating the excess nutrients would they be benificial in this system. If not do you just pluck them off?

Spionid worms. When they excrete there are two, when ordinarily 'fishing' there is one. Harmless.
