Just to show you what T5s can do.
After this i really take my time acclimating my corals to the light. Sometimes i think the T5s are to intense. I have a Tek and run only 4 bulbs, 2blue+ and 2aquablue. Do you think it would be better to run 2 blue+, 1 actinic and 1 6500k or Aquablue, to bring down the brightness a bit.
Before After I have it in shade now, only time will tell if it will get its color back. |

Wow, definately the lights were too intense for the coral to handle.
The aquablue + are very intense. I say, use a Aquaz Sun Pro (10k) or GE 6500k. The Sun Pro has like a yellowish look and isn't that intense in my eyes as the Aquablue +. Can't go wrong with the GE 6500k as well. They have excellent par ratings. |

That seems more like RTN than light intensity overexposure. I could be wrong all I know about the situation is what I read in this thread.
I just saw the second note, so it still has it's flesh? just zero Zooxanthellae? yeah it could be the lights then if the intensity changed instantly. At first it looked like the skeleton was bare. |

Still has its flesh, just white. I do have some GE 6500k bulbs. I will give them a shot. I do have it shaded now so we will see how it recovers. I did have a problem with all my corals a few months ago when I first got the T5s, they all bleached and receded, no lie. At first I thought I had bad water quality, but after 4 water changes and testing, i deduced it was the lights. I lost 2 chalices but everything else recovered. All i can say is be very careful make sure you shade any new corals under T5s and slowly bring them out. I would never have thought i would have a problem when that mycedium came out of a tank under 400w MH
