Return pump for 180
Should I get a Velocity t4 pump for my return or a MD40RLXT Japanese Motored Iwaki Water Pump for my return on a 180 gallon tank. I am looking for a farely quiet pump since it will be going in a dentist office and I am looking for around 1200 gph since there are 2 1" drains. Or are there any other pumps people would recommend?

Dont get a genx pcx 30. It is strong as hell but really noisy. I am using a quite one 5000 (1330 gph) and its pretty good. Its weird how my gen x was rated at 982gph and it was much stronger. I guess it has something to do with the pressure rating. I think most the external pumps are loud. I would go with a strong in sump pump. Maybe a mag 18 or a something of that caliber.

I wasnt ever considering the gen-x. I already have the sump and and everything and its drilled for an external pump so I want to get one of those. (I got a 180 gallon tank with sump, skimmer, stand, MH lights, calcium reactor, uv sterilizer, auto-top off all for free) I just have to replace the pumps.

Pan-World 100-PX-x. It is fairly quiet and doesn't transfer heat. They are made by one of the guys who left Iwaki to go into buisness for himself. Got mine from Premium Aquatics for $163.

The iwaki's make a loud hmmmm noise. I have a 70 and its in the basement and from time to time I hear it in my bedroom on the third floor. I think sequence's are quite. I thinking of getting the hammerhead since I need the accomdate for the head pressure

I'm running a Iwaki 70 for my return and can hardly here it. If u can here it on the third floor and it's in the basement somethng's not right. I think I would get it checked out before u have a major problem.
