sounds like canyo. how long has the tank been set up? are you using rodi water? and how much flow in the tank do you have? if the tank is new then it is all part of the process and will go away on its own. if your using tap water then that may be feeding it and will take much longer for it to go away which is why using rodi water is much better. also low flow areas is where it likes to grow so you may want to up the water flow in that area

thanks for your input. i have had my tank set up for a while. probably around 8 months. it has cycled and i have had fish in it for 5 plus months. if it is canyo or whatever u said is it hurtful to the fish? i have had it in the tank for a few weeks and the fish dont seemed bothered by it and seem very healthy. i use reverse ossmosis water and pre made salt water from my local salt water fish store. please tell me what u think

it isn't gonna harm any of your fish is is just a ugly to see. have you checked you phosphats and nitrates lately? those also can cause it to grow if they are up there. and also how is the flow in the tank in that area? everything else sounds like your doing good though

wow sam thank you for your replys. the flow is not that good in that area it seems. its towards the front of the tank and the water flow is towards the back of the tank. the nitrate level is a little high and has been and i have been working on that with water changes. all other levels and salinity are good tho.

i am here to help
![]() but the way it sounds as of now the best things to do are. 1. take a turkey baster and syphon out as much as you can. 2. get some more flow into those area's. 3. lower the nitrates the best you can. if you do those things it will help out alot. also if you have room for a fuge you can also grow macro alage in there to help lower your nutrients and nitrates. |
