Why Stomatella snail, WHY!!?

I've never bought a Stomatella snail (smail fingernail shell, reproduction machine). But have seen a dozen or so seperate individuals during the coarse of owning my tank.

About 4-5 times in 4-5 months I have seen one during the day lay on it's backside like it was dying. It's little tenticles would still be moving and slug like foot was still moving. It would not be dead, more like it was giving up, wanting to be eaten. This is not an isolated case with just 1 specimen I don't think. Do they just have short livespans and this is the way they go?

Somehow I have one of these too but I have never seen it do what you are describing.
About the only time I see mine is at night.

No funny! I've never seen one actually get eaten as they do this. Maybe it is the same one that just likes to do this occasionally?

Actually when this happened months ago I tried to upright it and it didn't seem to want help. It was just all curled up and let the current bob it around and didn't want to grab the sand.
