dilemna...
I'm having a garage sale this weekend and my wife wants me to either sell or do something w/ my old 20 gallon fish tank. It used to house a few gold fish and was my starter aquaruim. I have a 75 gallon tank right now, and I'm fairly new to the saltwater hobby. Is there anything I can do with the aquarium? I know I can make a quarantine tank out of it fairly cheap, but how about a refuguim? Are there any sites you can redirect me to that will show me step by step w/ pictures on DIY ideas?

Just my 2 bits here, I think it's a bit small for a 75 to get maximum benefits of fuge, but I'm sure others will chime in. On the flip-side, even the smallest refugiums can be a whole 'nother point of fascination for some. Me included. My biggest is about 70 gallons and is ever-changing. Lots of plans and ideas if you hit the seach feature at the right time.
A quarantine tank would be the more practical use in the long-run I think. Or you could buy anothr 20 and do both!

I know next to nothing about sumps other than what I've read cruising reefcentral over the past hour or so. Can I add a sump with my tank running?I'm tool illiterate so is this a simple project? From what i've seen I run it through my filter is that correct? Sorry for all the questions.

That filter looking box you see in pics is actually an overflow box. It takes water over the edge of your tank via syphon method, then drains down into your sump, a return pump is needed to bring the water back up to the tank and...well here he does a great job decribing it. http://www.melevsreef.com/
