I would suggest blasting the rock before doing the water change to remove as much detrius as possible.

its about an inch and a half deep live sand

i set up a new tank that is still cycling but that has different sand, reg aragamax about 3-4" deep. i havent cleaned that tank yet since its just set up, but is that considered a deep sand bed and i shouldnt stir that tank once its ready?

Thats on the edge of a DSB from what I understand. I started with about 4 in. of sand and sucked out about 2 1/2 in so there were no anaerobic areas. If you leave the sand that deep, I wouldn't stir it.
