Filtration clear up...

I'm looking to start a 30g cube reef tank, with many inverts, but only a couple of fish at the most. My LFS told me that a protein skimmer is all that i would need, of course with 40-50lbs of live rock and 3 in. of live sand. My question is what size of skimmer I should look for, I'm sure bigger would be better just in case I want to upgrade to a bigger tank in years to come. Also, are there any brands that you all would recommend? Any input would be great, thanks.

do you have a sump? If not you will be limited to hang on skimmers. An aquaC Remora is a nice hang on skimmer for that sized tank.

Still in the planning stages i'm just getting as much input as possible. I don't plan on getting a sump though
