Nori -or- Sea Veggies/Seaweed Select

I use Nori and was just wondering what everyone else uses?

i use seaweed selects. i can pick them up fairly cheap a Petsmart, and they include a new clip with each box.

Just my experience. . .

My fish will peck at Nori.
They will eat Seaweed Select.
They will eat Purple Sea Veggies.
They go absolutely nuts for Green Sea Veggies.

I use green Sea Veggies. It's pricey compared to Nori, but my fish go crazy for it

I use sheets of Nori from the Asian market, way less than half the cost of the sea veggies, which are the same thing. Like 4 bucks for a pack of about 30 large sheets. It's made up of different types of alage, green, red, brown.

My fish go nuts over it, espically the large tangs. I just drop in a whole sheet a day and it's gone in about a minute.

I buy it at the LFS and it's $7 - but I only have to buy a package a couple times a year. Compared to other costs in this hobby, that's nothing.

Nori - Fish love it and I love it because it's dirt cheap at the asian markets.

Great way to save some money in this hobby. That reminds me.....gotta pick up some pickling lime today.

The Nori sold in Asian markets is not necessarily the same as the Seaweed Selects product. Many varieties are cooked and/or have added spices. Seaweed Selects is not very expensive and it's safe for use in your aquarium. I don't see the point in taking chances. It certainly doesn't pay to buy large quanities of this stuff anyway because it goes bad after a period of time.

Nori, asian market.
7th street in Allentown. $6.00 for 50sheets. Right up from Shear Heaven going towards town. My tangs like the nori better then the selects.

Not if you get the right one.

You have to read the package and get the dried or roasted ones without anything eles in them. And they last for months. Plus you can clearly see that it's red, green, brown and purple seaweed in each sheet.

Seaweed Selects = 4 large sheets and 4 small sheets for 4 bucks

Asian market = 50 large sheets for 4 bucks

I love Nori since I was little. Now that my tang has to fight with me for it. Good thing that they didn't like the one with spicy and I do. LOL

Is it before or after the circle in Allentown? On the right or left? I've never seen an Asian market on 7th st, but will definitely look for it. I've been getting my stuff in New Jersey at the Asian market near where my mother lives, but Allentown is much more convenient. Of course with these big packages of nori, I don't need to buy it that often.

I buy the seaweed selects is bulk (50 sheet pack) at marine depot. Much cheaper that way.

It only takes a sec to read the front of the package. says it right there on the front, in ENGLISH. real easy to read.

The labels on the Nori in the Asian markets are not always clear and not always written in ENGLISH.

I purchased a large pack once only to find that it was seasoned. It was not indicated on the label. I wasted both my time and money. They don't routinely state whether it's dried or roasted either; most are roasted. IMO, it's not worth the effort or the risk. I use the red Seaweed Selects and know that I'm getting a safe and consistent product each time I buy it. Geez, you're a bunch of cheap bast**ds.

I'd suggest finding another hobby if you're worried about the cost of dried seaweed.
