New Taam Powerhead - Polario 10k GPH - Expected Fall 2006
I thought some folks might be interested in a new powerhead that Taam is developing, due sometime Fall 2006. It is called the Polario and is a controllable flow, stream-style powerhead that can supposedly produce some 0-10,000 GPH of flow. It looks like a couple of Tunzes attached rear-to-rear.
Polario.pdf - More Details Some details about the powerhead, from what I have read around.

Last I heard it was supposed to be out in February but I am sure it has probably been pushed back.

I can't remember for sure, but I thought that what I heard on a MACNA podcast that they were saying in the $400 range? Not sure what options that included, but I think that includes the controller. That price though puts it in the same range as the Vortec, and Tunze. I was hoping for a more economy range, but who knows, maybe it will be lower when it finally does come out.

looks perfect for putting on the back wall, towards the bottom, behind the rocks to clear out dead spots back there.

9i wonder how many people will want to use this as a pump than just a wave maker because of its flow

now a days, wavemakers are the pumps. look at the vortechs, they're 3,000gph and used as flow and wave makers at the same time.
this will be used as both as well. for me it will accompany my pair of vortechs as simply a dead zone clearer. |
