Need Energy Efficient External Pump Recommendations
I am setting up a 120 gal sps tank with an adjacement fish room. So noise is not much of a problem. But I want an energy efficient return pump and closed loop pump. Both will be external pumps. What would you recommend?

Mags aren't bad, but some of the upper end eheims are more effecient than the mags.

Darts are pretty efficent.
Sweetwater pumps are very effeceint as well.

about the smallest sweetwater they make is a 1/2hp isn't it?
For the sump return you only need about 5 turnovers. Something like a GRI 510 would be a good, solid choice. Not necessarily the most effecient but a very, very solid pump. For The closed loop--if you've got the budget, consider one of the new Tunze master recirculation pumps. They are a bit noisy/buzzy IME, but are a bit more effecient than the Sequence Dart IME. The largest one pushes more water than a Dart by a long shot and uses the same amount of electricity on a killawatt vs a Dart. Otherwise Darts are good choices.

For smaller pumps, the Blueline NS800 just about trumps everything. 875gph at 1' head, 17ft max head, 40w.

I have a 120. I used a blueline ns800 hooked to an om4way and I did not get enough turn over in my sump. I hooked my blueline55 and it works better. this is temp until I hook my dart up to it.
