a couple of vho lighting questions

My first question is if I wanted to go with all white bulbs instead of half white and half blue would that hurt any of my corals that I have right now? I have a favia that I have had for under a year. I also have a group of polyps and a couple of shrooms that have been with me for about a year also....Reason that I would like to change is I like the look that you get with MH. I know that there is no comparison to MH but I like the ocean look of the water. The other reason is the price for the blue bulbs. Another question that I have is how old is my ballast? To me it looks like it is from the early 60's ha ha. My final question is what is another good vho set up. I just want one where you can install it in a canopy. With my 55 I just want to be able to keep soft corals and shrooms.....thanks for anyone who looks/replies to my post.

called the lfs today and they said it would not matter but you know how that goes....
