Will I be ok?

Within the past week I have had a bad ich outbreak and 2 of my fish died. My longnose butterfly and my flame angel have died and my clown, wrasse, and small blue tang are now in a QT being treated with hypo.

I would like to get another butterfly and flame angel because I didnt have them that long. My question is, after I sort out my ich situation and I add these two new fish will I have any aggression problems with the wrasse or tang?

The blue tang will get too large for that tank. I'd find another fish. The longnose and the flame angel should be fine, although the flame might pick at some corals, if you are considering adding any at any time. For a FOWLR, they're a very nice animal, IMO.

Remember to QT ANYTHING WET that you intend to put in the main tank or you will likely end up with ich again just like before.

No wonder they got bad ich. You had way too many fish and large sized ones too! For that small of a tank.

Secret to beating ich: Lots of open swimming room, healthy water params, peaceful neighbors. Pay attention to fish size and required tank size. And only add 1 fish every month until the tank is considered "full". Quarantining or lack thereof is not going to solve the posters problem. Cramped living space was the main problem. When a fish gets ich, it is only magnified if the living conditions are stressful.

Too bad we can't weed out the misinformed posters who know nothing about ich, or who at least refuse to learn.

I'll also add the suggestion that you leave your display tank fallow (with no fish in it) for at least 6 weeks to clear it of ich. Inverts are ok.

I quarantine all fish. I don't have the means to QT corals for the light not beinfg sufficient, but I have still yet to have an ich outbreak.

Let me make this clear, the blue tang is fairly small...around an inch and a half. By time its gets too large I plan on upgrading my tank.

Also, I do plan on QT'ing everything.

No one seemed to answer my question...will I have any aggression problems when adding my other fish?

From my understanding, having 5 fish in a 72g isn't overstocking? I understand that once the tang gets bigger I will have to upgrade...and I plan on that.

My fish were a clown, a fairly wrasse, a longnose butterfly, a SMALL blue tang, and a flame angel.

Aggression problems are hard to predict. I don't see anything that leads me to suspect you'll see aggression.

There shouldn't be any aggression problems, but each fish has a personality of its own, just like cats, dogs, or any other animal.

On a side note, I thought my new kitten would get along great with my other cat since they weren't too different in age. Boy was I wrong!!! My cats hate eachother and the new kitten is best friends with the 80 lb. Doberman. Go figure!! So I'd just worry about personalities striking.

Back on track, if one looks to be too agressive towards the others take him back and trade him in. You won't know until you have everyone in the tank together.

I wouldn't about the blue tang yet. When we got ours she was about the size of a quarter. She's in a 75 and a year later has grown to ~3 inches in length, nose to tail, and still has plenty of room to move about. We are planning an upgrade and she'll be dwarfed by the 210 gallon new home she should be in by Christmas!!

Good luck!
