bio media vs. colurpa plant
ok so i have this pro pack protein skimmer and a friend of mine told me to get rid of the bio media and replace it with colurpa plants. is it a good idea? will it do any different? thank you

First of all this caulerpa needs light, and it grows by using nutrients from your water ( thats a good thing ), i would suggest you leave some bio media in there ( bio-balls? ) to start a bacterial population ( and to make up for any mistakes you might make ), how much live rock do you have? if you have a sufficent amount of rock you could slowly remove the media over a period of 2 weeks ( a little bit each day )
so my suggestion would be to put some caulerpa or if you can get some chaetomorpha ( much better ) and put it in your display so it can receive light and slowly remove the bio-media so your liverock can catch up on the bacterial population. HTH |

i just installed a mini clip lamp and the LFS said it's good enough to keep the plants alive. i have about 20 pounds of live rocks and 2 inches of live sand

O.k then, start remo0ving the media slowly as i said , whle you have the algae in your main tank. what is the wattage/colour temperature on that lamp?

BTW sorry for all the troubles and thank you for all the help. the technical data on the lamp is 230/240V - 50Hz - 0,5w the brand name is HYDOR aqua color lamp. it can also be put inside of water
