Exclamation Expensive fish

Okay, so I'm a newbie, and I've been hanging out lately at a LFS talking to some people about reefkeeping and stuff... Well, I knew that this was an expensive hobby getting into it, but we were talking about fish prices today and someone was telling me about this angelfish that was special ordered at the store that cost like a LOT!!! Okay, so I was blown away by that and it made me curious, all you guys who have been in this for a while, 1. What is the most expensive fish that you have purchased, and 2. What is the most expensive fish you have ever seen for sale? Geez, and I thought that $70 for a flame angel was EXPENSIVE!

I've seen some angelfish for around $900, but the most I've paid is $30 for a purple tang...

I swear to G-d that I've seen a fish in a lfs priced a $1000 that someone actually bought, but since that was back in the fall and also in a fish store that I don't usually shop at I have a hard time remembering what type of fish it was. However, there is a Bumble Bee Grouper at my closest lfs for $500; the store named it "Kong".

A flame angel for 70$ seems rediculous. At my LFS they are 30$ at most.

70 is a rip off for an flame angel. 30 dollars is more reasonable. Purple tangs around here are usually in the 40-60 range. Yes that angel on live aquaria is a crazy price but for a fish so rare i can understand but man i was thinking maybe couple hundred dollars not 1500.

3000 for a pair of dragons is actually a really good price if they are indeed a pair.

marinecenter had a interruptus angel for 1400.00. Which is a total rip because there is a place in hawaii that breeds them and you can get them for 650$ all day! and they are tank bred!!

there are many expensive fish out there

My most expensive fish was an Imperator angelfish at $90. Thats about the most I would spend. much more and it is too much of a risk as the fish will, with my luck, die.

my whole perspective of expensive fish have changed since i can get pretty much anything at very low costs! But there is still always a price margin that i wont cross because of the risk. Dead fish aren't worth anything, rare or not

At the local store I used to run we had a 21" White Tipped Reef Shark. I think wholesale it was $650 plus another $400-500 to ship since the box weighed 150 lbs.

He was pretty cool.
