Proper pump for chiller Part II
I purchased SurfOnH20 1/10 chiller yesterday.
As you would expect from any reefer he is very proud of his tank and he should be. On top of a nice tank he is a very nice person and he has some pretty cool dogs. I am also looking for advice on what pump I need. I have 60gal cube with about 15gal sump. I'm not sure how to return the chilled water to the main tank, I suck at the plumbing part. I had a fellow reefer help me set it up. I was thinking of putting the pump near the sock and the output near the return so it pumped to the tank. Need some advice Please... |

Hey JD. I would use an eheim 1260 on yours. I had one on my 40 gallon through a 1/10 and it worked extremely well. Even though yours is a little bigger, you don't want that high of a turnover in your sump. Just use flex tubes and put the 1260 in your sump, then plumb it to your chiller, then from the chiller, have it exit to your display tank. HTH. oh yeh, and i would recommend using black flex tubing, you can find it at tong's and its cheaper than anywhere else.

JdMac,
Hey thanks for the nice compliments ! It looks like we are in the same boat here. Living and learning. You and your wife are great people. I enjoyed your company during the visit. And yes I got the chiller under the radar from the wife ![]() |
