Aluminum as bottom molding?

I just bought a tank that didn't have a bottom molding. The tank seems structural (double bottom glass). But I wanted to put modling around the bottom for protection. I can't seem to find any LFS that sell molding, so I turned to Homedepot. I found an aluminum edging that I was thinking about attaching to the exterior base and putting the entire tank over foam. It wouldn't be in the water, but didn't know if it would have bad effects on the tank or livestock.

Thanks for any help.

it won't matter if you are using some kind of substances to cover the bottom like the LS or the miracle mud

I don't think aluminum is a good idea at times you will get salt water on it it will corrode and start to fall apart look for stainless steel

like a hot knife through butter. Aluminum is cheese and saltwater is the grater.
