Bak-Pak 2R+ Reef Ready Protein Skimmer Pros/Cons
I'm considering stepping up to this skimmer but i'd like some firsthand info from those who have them. Thanks!!!

I had one and hated it.
Very loud, had to adjust often, and light green tea for skim at best, even with mods. I like the coralifes much better in that price range. Remora would be next, and does have a nice slim design. Deltec is best if you have the $$

You can actually make them dead quiet with a longer piece of tubing and a different needle valve. I'm also doing a neat little mod I may post about later. With the new mod, I think the regular bak-pak2 will skim circles around some of the other hangon skimmers But then again the mod is about $60.00
By changing out the needle valve to a more precise unit, I found that I could really adjust the air and get wet or dry skimming. It took a lot of patience to learn the skimmer, but now I like it. I keep it around for use on my 55 gallon quarantine tank. And if the mod I'm planning works, it will be used as the sole skimmer on my 125 that I'm thinking of turning into an FOWLR for a trigger and some non-reef safe fish
