Pump questions-Pls help

Pls help me w/ these questions:

1. Between Mag 7, Viaaqua and Eheim pumps (avg 700gph) which produces the least amount of heat? Is there a big or small difference between these pumps?
-I'm getting 2 pumps for both a return and skimmer use. My tank is already running at about 80 degrees (and this is w/o MH!)

2. What size Seio pump do u all recommend for a 40gal tank? I have no experience w/ them before. (I also have 2 rio 800 running in the tank also)

Thanks for all the help!

If heat is a concern, dont go overboard on pumps. This is a 40G? You dont need that big a return pump. An Eheim 1250 would be nice, uses 28W and is very quiet.

Well, I've owned a Mag7 and now a 1260. The 1260 is a much better pump since it is a heck of a lot quieter, and has a lot more flow. I cant comment about heat since I've never had a heat problem. My heaters need to kick in to keep the tank @ 78. I did measure the power the 1260 uses with a kill-o-watt and it read 58W. Again, IMO, too big for that setup anyway.

Look for low wattage and a fan. The ehiem is pretty good on both.

You aren't going to find a fan on a submersible pump

Thank you all. So let me get this straight, I'll get rid of the rio, replace with seio and for my two main pumps, I should get a eheim. How many seio and size wise would u rec for a 40gal mix reef with some sps?

research the pumps you have listed. the lowest wattage is what to strive for to maintain the heat...but it appears you already know that. i would poke around for you, but it could take a while which i don't have time right now.

for my 24g i replaced the stock pump (32w) and a rio 600 (9w) for two maxi jet 900s (17w total) and had the same gph.

you just have to really search around.
