175watt MH lights over 20" tank?
would three 175watt MH lights supplemented by 2 110watt VHO lights be enough light for SPS, LPS and clams?

I have MH175 10 000K over a 24" tank with 2 110W actinics. It's definitly enough for LPS (even at the bottom). I never tried SPS but I'm confident that it would be fine for most of them. So far, I have been reluctant to try a clam since the bottom is the best place to put them.

Generally you use a MH per 2 feet of length... so you could set this up on a 6 foot tank. You should be ok .. I use to use 2 x 10k 175w and 2 uri super atinics over a 75g a while ago and had great growth.

the tank is 72" long. it's a standard 125g. i don't want to use T5 as i've found they are more expensive to purchase. they cost less in the long run, but they don't have the ripple effect

I wouldn't go T5's for Actinic's as reports are coming back that the new Uri SA t5's don't seem to be the same as the VHO's Actinics....
Some good 10k bulbs and a pair of VJHO SA's and you should be good |
