What size filter for 75 gal reef tank?
I upgraded to a 75gal tank last Spring. I bought it from an individual. I'm a novice - 2 years. The filter broke. A saltwater store sold me a wet/dry filter that filters 500 gal/hour. The manufacturer doesn't support marine aquariums. It has 4 charcoal filters in it.
Is it too big for my tank - filtering too much water too quickly? Thanks for anyone's help and suggestions. Bob |

I am not a fan of a wet/dry filter. Many take the bioballs out & replace it with cheato (macro algae), & put a small compact florescent lamp over the cheato. Activated carbon is good for a reef tank. I do not filter my water, as it will remove alot of the little critters you want in your tank.
500gals/hr is a good amount thru your wet/dry. You will need to provide extra flo in your tank. Something like two Seio 1100's. Welcome to Reef Central!!
